Wei Li Zhu
Artist and Portrait Painter
Wei Li Zhu was born in Shanghai, China. She studied art at Shanghai Normal University, and completed postgraduate study at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, Scotland. She has taught painting at Nan Yang Academy of Art in Singapore, and at Grays.
Since 1992 she has lived and worked in Scotland. She has completed numerous portrait commissions at home and abroad, and has had several solo exhibitions of her portrait and figurative work, as well as exhibiting regularly with the Royal Portrait Society in London.
In 2004 she appeared with artist and presenter Rolf Harris in a programme for BBC television entitled “Star Portraits”, in which she painted TV gardener and presenter Charlie Dimmock.
As well as her portraits, Wei Li has also undertaken commissions for figurative painting compositions for commercial companies, and her figurative paintings have been purchased by many private individuals.
Wei Li has also exhibited with The Rendezvous Gallery, Aberdeen, and the Edinburgh Gallery, Edinburgh.
